Cabinet Mountain Water seeks system assistant

Cabinet Mountains Water District (CMWD) is seeking a self-motivated, hands-on individual who can work independently to become their water system operator assistant. This is a full time position, forty flexible hours per week. The hourly wage range is $12 to $18 per hour, depending on experience.

This position requires some weekend shifts and being on-call for emergencies.

The successful candidate must reside in Boundary County and be willing to move to within the boundaries set by the Board of Directors within three months of being hired. CMWD will consider responsible and dependable candidates who are mechanically inclined, safety conscious, detail oriented, conscientious, possess a positive attitude and are willing to take training and courses necessary for certification and operation.

The candidate must eventually possess a Class 1 Water Treatment License (DWT-1) and a Class 2 Distribution License (DWD-2).
The duties and attributes of the Water System Operator Assistant include but are not limited to:
  • General maintenance of system and pumps
  • Installation of customer meters
  • Good customer relation skills
  • Daily monitoring of pump controls
  • Accurate record keeping of pump readings
  • Ability to solve problems safely and quickly
  • Physical requirements including ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel, and RSView SCADA software in daily operations
  • A valid driver’s license with clean record and background check is required.

A work truck and cell phone will be provided for 24/7 use, however it is to be used for district purposes only. No smoking is allowed in district owned vehicles, equipment or buildings. There will be a probation period of nine months, at which time an evaluation will be completed to determine if job requirements are being met.
