Tenant outgrows the Plaza Downtown

The Plaza Downtown
Last year, The Plaza Downtown, 7177 Main Street, Bonners Ferry, opened its door with the goal to serve as a business incubator, and to provide professional office and meeting space in Bonners Ferry. With six office suites and dedicated desks available, the co-sharing environment provides a synergy for collaboration and networking, which is crucial in today’s business market.

Shared office space is also an effective step towards helping new and seasoned business owners alike by keeping operating expenses down. In a small market like Bonners Ferry, that is key.

Local entrepreneur Tim Garcia agrees. After months of working from home, the owner of Modern Outdoor Life/Überleben, an online retail company, decided to give a dedicated desk at The Plaza a try. At first, he admits he was hesitant to start renting a desk due to the savings of working at home. However, it did not take him long to see the benefits firsthand.

“The Plaza has been awesome for a multitude of reasons — fast internet, great atmosphere, conference room access, and simply being positioned downtown. But above that, it was a place I could come and focus,” he said.

Not only did Garcia find that the space allowed him to focus on his business, but it also quickly opened up the door to meeting new people in the community he might not have met otherwise.

After nearly a year, his retail business is quickly growing, with the recent addition of new employees becoming necessary. He is also now in the process of expanding to a even larger space with the purchase of his very own building, located downtown.

“While we’re extremely excited to have our own building, continue growing, and nurturing our own company culture," Garcia said, "We are also a little sad. The Plaza Downtown has really become a second home. Good news is, we are only 30-feet away now — and our periodic need
for a conference room may still keep us visiting regularly.”

“Although I am sad to lose Tim as a tenant, I am happy to be gaining a new business neighbor," said Plaza Downtown owner Tess Rae. "Modern Outdoor Life was the first company to rent a dedicated desk at The Plaza. It is very exciting to see him take the next step and become
fully vested in the community. It is also one less empty building downtown, which is a win-win for the entire community.”

For any entrepreneurs out there considering taking that next step or hoping to establish a business in Bonners Ferry, the option of a dedicated desk is a great option because of the flexible rental terms offered. With high speed internet, a conference room and more, the risk is minimal, but the rewards can be greater.
