Bonners Ferry Shopko to close

Shopko has announced plans to close 39 stores across the country, including the Bonners Ferry store. The Green Bay, Wisconsin, based retailer is closing the locations, most of them Shopko Hometown stores, after a liquidation sale.

The sale starts on December 7. The stores are expected to close at the end of the February.

The Bonners Ferry store is the only Idaho store on the list. A store in Spokane is also among those to be shuttered.

Other closings are Leadville and Buena Vista, Colorado, Dwight, Illinois, Webster City, Cherokee and Eldora, Iowa, Anthony, Russell, Phillipsburg, Clay Center, Lyons, and Larned, Kansas, Brandenburg, Kentucky, Mahnomen and Paynesville, Minnesota, Albany, Missouri, Plentywood, Montana,
Lincoln, Ord and Kimball, Nebraska, Lovington, New Mexico, Oakes, Stanley, Lisbon and Mayville North Dakota, Fairview, Oklahoma, Redfield, Wagner, Webster and Dell Rapids South Dakota, Presidio, Texas, Delta, Nephi, Blanding and Beaver, Utah, Mauston, Wisconsin and Greybull, Wyoming.

Shopko was founded in Green Bay in 1962. It currently operates 363 stores in 24 states. In 2005, the retailer partnered with Sun Capital Partners. The investment firm specializes in buyouts, debt and private equity.
