A major nationwide internet outage is affecting millions of users in a broad swath from Montana south through Wyoming, Colorado, Utah and Arizona, as well as large spot outages in major cities across the country, including Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis and New York City.

The outage has hit CenturyLink, which reports "a major path issue" is the cause of the outages, and it could be 24 to 48 hours before service is restored.

The outages are affecting 911 service in many areas, as well as ATM outages.
