Ron Shelman
Ron Shelman, 76, passed away peacefully in his home on October 18, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Ron fought hard, but eventually lost his life to multiple myeloma.

Ron was born February 3, 1942, in Bonners Ferry to Monk and Virginia Shelman. He graduated Bonners Ferry High School in 1960. He then attended University of Idaho, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He completed his degree at University of Puget Sound once he was employed as a police officer with the City of Seattle.

Ron retired the summer of 1990 after 25 after serving many roles in the department. After retirement, Ron enjoyed self employment, operating his tractor and implements doing various types of site preparation.

Ron married Cheryle, the love of his life, on June 15, 1968. One year later they moved to the outskirts of Issaquah, Washington. It was there that they raised their twin son and daughter, Jeff and Jodi Shelman. Once the kids were off to college, it was apparent it was time for a new community. Ron and Cheryle moved to Whidbey Island the fall of 1996.

Not surprising to those who knew him, Ron had a wonderful ability to reach out and connect with those around him. Ron spent his entire life establishing treasured friendships and connecting with family. It came naturally to Ron to reach out to people in need and was always there to lend a hand.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Cheryle, children Jeff and Jodi, their spouses Malinda and Randi, his beloved grandchildren Jake Jeffrey and Madison Rae, his sisters Lynn, Nancy and Sandra and an amazing host of in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
