UMW spreading joy in the community

December 27, 2018
By Judy Dirks
UMW President

Our United Methodist Women celebrated the birth of Christ at our December 6 meeting with gifts for the Ministerial Association Christmas baskets. It was a joy to welcome Judy Swing to our membership.

Pastor Ken led a beautiful installation service for us. Gini Woodward brought lovely Christmas cards for us to sign and write a “Merry Christmas” message to be given to the residents of State Hospital North, some who do not receive mail. We appreciate Gini giving us this opportunity to provide a bit of joy to others at this special time of year.

Another way we spread joy is by providing hair care for the lady residents of our Restorium every fifth Thursday. On November 29, we again washed, set, styled hair and visited and laughed with the ladies who so appreciate this bit of care and pampering! Join us January 31 at 8:30 a.m. as we take our next turn! One need not be a professional hairdresser to contribute to this opportunity to show our “love in action!”

We look forward to having Barbara Rawlings, local midwife of about 40 years, present our January 3 program. Maternal and Child Health is one of UMW’s National issue priorities. All ladies of the church are welcome to attend this and all our meetings. This is one you won’t want to miss!

Fellowship begins over dessert at 1 p.m. in the church lounge.
