First year fifth grade quarterback Gabe Lewandowski ran the offense as the combined Badger fifth and sixth grade football teams traveled to Sandpoint Wednesday and beat the Sandpoint fifth grade team, 39-27.

Lewandowski connected on key passes to Jimmy Solt and Taysean Spottedhorse, and the running game was firing on all cylinders, thanks to nice blocking from the
offensive line.

Keenan Maas and Carson Blumenauer both ran it into the endzone for touchdowns, and some nice runs from Thomas Hoggan gave the Badgers big gains.

Keenan also led the Badger defense, making some key stops with help from Jacob Solt and Kai Aitken.

"The kids played well," coach Todd Carver said. "Sandpoint had a good team with lots of numbers. The kids played tough and didn't leave anything on the field. They were good sportsmen. They represented the community well, and most importantly, they represented themselves in a way that should make their parents and their community proud."

The young Badger teams are at home on the BFHS football field Saturday, October 13 for games against Timberlake beginning at 10 a.m.
