Badger JV boys working hard and improving daily

October 12, 2018
By Corey Richards

The Bonners Ferry Badgers JV football team took on the Kellogg Wildcats October 5 and came out on top, 22 to 12, to improve their record to 3-3 for the season.

Wilson Newel scored a six yard touchdown run and Mitch Falck went in to score twice on a 12 yard run and a five yard run.

Eli Richards connected on two passes to Conner Calahan for two two-point conversions.

The young Badger team rushed for over 250 yards between Newell, Falk and Richards. Richards threw for over 70 yards, connecting with Joel Cowley for two big pass plays.

The offensive line consisting of Dillion Collier, Zak Miller, Nathaniel Varelman, Bo Bateman, Hunter Carpenter and Jackson Rickter made big holes for the running back.

The defense held off the final drive of the Wildcats with big plays made by Calahan, Kyle Smith and Brian Durrett.

With 18 freshmen on the team, the boys just keep improving each week and growing in skills and strength as most of them are showing up at 6:45 a.m. twice a week for weight lifting at the school.

The Badger JV play at home at 4 p.m. today against Priest River.
