The Badgers showed a lot of spirit throughout Homecoming week, but the visiting Priest River Spartans weren't having it, going home with a 20-6 win.

All the scoring in Friday night's Badger homecoming game was confined to the third quarter, and it was the Badgers who struck first when Ty Bateman broke loose and ran 64 yards for the touchdown.

But the two point conversion attempt failed, and the Spartans fired back with three TD runs.

While everything in football is a team effort, Ty owned Friday night's game.

Badger quarterback Aaron Scott completed seven passes in 21 attempts for 54 yards, hitting Ty twice for 37 yards, Jake Jelinek twice for 16 and Chris Durette twice for a yard.

Ty also led on rushing, averaging 7.6 yards on seven carries.

On defense, Ty was credited with six tackles and one assist, Kenny Branson had two tackles.

The loss puts the Badgers at 1-7 on the season and 0-2 in league, and they face 4-3 league-leading Timberlake in their final regular season game on Tiger turf next Friday.
