Gilmore Campground adds 48 sites

December 7, 2018
Farragut State Park welcomes the addition of 48 more campsites to Gilmore Campground. The funding for the project was split between the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and RV Funding.

Farragut State Park visitors can begin making reservations at one of these new sites in the Gilmore Campground at 7 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, for stays set to begin on or after May 17, 2019.

The park spans 4,000 acres and is rich with Idaho history. Farragut was once the site of the second largest naval training facility in the world. Because of the origin, there is a lot to see around the area, including a museum.

Alongside their historic background is a beautiful backdrop of lush mountains, a vast lake, and miles of trails, making Farragut increasingly popular.

Visitors have a large variety of outdoor recreation options such as hiking, mountain biking, boating, disc golfing, swimming, horseback trails, and more. The greater demand for Farragut has spurred this development and with the implementation of the additional campsites, more visitors will be able to visit this North Idaho State Park.

Reservations are recommended.

By making reservations, campers will be able to pre-plan their stays and have the security of knowing that they have a site before they go. Ultimately our goal is to provide a better overall experience for visitors.

Reservations can be made at www.parksandrecreation.idaho.gov or by calling 1-888-922-6743. Agents are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. MST and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
