Lady Bulldogs get first win of season against Badgers

The Badger girls varsity squad got off to a rough start tonight against the Sandpoint Bulldogs and never recovered, dropping their second straight game and giving the 0-5 Bulldogs their first win of the season, 55-29. The loss puts the Lady Badgers at 5-2 on the season.

The Lady Badgers had foul trouble and apparent jitters, and the Bulldogs stepped out slow, building a 10-5 lead in the first quarter before exploding in the second, putting up 22 points to the Badgers 9 for a 32-14 lead going into the locker room.

The Bulldogs kept up the pressure in the third, outscoring the Badgers 15-7, then coasted in the fourth with both teams hitting eight points.

Sandpoint's Dawson Driggs led all scorers with 18 points and Maddie Morgan hit 15. Jerzie Pluid and Holly Ansley both hit eight points to lead the Badger scoring effort. Sierra Hill and Grace Villelli each hit four points, Mackenzie Jackson and Baylee Blackmore scored two and Emmaline Pinkerton hit one from the free throw line.

The JV girls fell as well, 48-28.

The Badgers travel to face Wallace, 0-4 and looking for a win, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, and play their first Intermountain League match at Lakeland, 3-4, at 7 p.m. Friday, December 21.
