Seth Bateman scored early and often Friday night, including shots fired in the game's opening minutes from free throw land.
The Badgers shone Friday in their first league basketball games as each Badger team hosted the Priest River Spartans and each team went 1-0 in Intermountain League in what amounted to blowouts.

Seth Bateman scored a game high 29 points to lead the boys varsity to a very one-sided 82-54 win, and he wasn't the only hot-handed scorer in the game. Dylan Hittle hit for 17 and Ty Bateman hit 14 before an injury early in the final quarter put him out of the game.

The Badger romped to a 29-12 lead in the first quarter and cruised along in the second, with both the Badgers and the Spartans putting up 11 points, giving the Badgers a commanding lead going into the locker room, 40-23.

The Spartans, led by Caden Brennan's 16 points, put up a fight in the third, but still fell short as the Badgers scored 21 to Priest River's third quarter points, and the Badgers closed the game out in style, shooting 21 to the Spartans 11 for the win.

Also adding points to the Badger side of the scoreboard were Hayden Stockton and Caleb Petersen, both with eight, Matt Morgan with four and Chrid Durette with two.

The win puts the Badgers at 5-5/1-0 on the season and has them at the top of the IML standings, with Timberlake, tied with Kellogg at 2-7, in second.

No results for the JV boys game, but they did get a big win.

The boys travel to Post Falls Middle School today to take on Genesis Prep; JV action starts at 5:30 and the varsity squad is up a 7 p.m.
